There is always a festive atmosphere on the terrace of La Casa del Prosciutto

In San Daniele del Friuli, air is far more than just simple air.

It carries a distinctive aroma and a lightness that evokes tradition and authentic flavors.
It tells a long story, where the main characters are the local gastronomic culture and the gestures passed down throughout time.

Those who know San Daniele understand this well: it’s not just a place to visit, but one to breathe in, while strolling through the streets of the historic center, admiring the landscapes surrounding the villages, or sitting at the table in front of a Prosciutto di San Daniele Alberti plate. Every slice holds a centuries-old tradition and the core essence of our territory.

The traditional “Aria di Festa”

For 37 long years, at the beginning of every summer, the town would prepare to experience one of the most expected and meaningful moments of the year: “Aria di Festa,” a historic event dedicated to Prosciutto di San Daniele.

From as far back as 1985 to 2023, this event was much more than a food festival, it was a celebration of the land, craftsmanship, conviviality, and the identity of an entire community.

During those days, San Daniele would transform: the streets of the historic center would fill with aromas and visitors from across Italy and beyond. Everyone was captivated by the festive atmosphere, the breathtaking views, and of course the unmistakable taste of prosciutto.

Although the event no longer takes place today, its spirit lives on in the places, flavors, and experiences that make San Daniele so unique.

Aria di Festa, every day

In San Daniele, every slice of prosciutto carries the taste and aroma of a celebration.
All it takes is to breathe in the scents that drift through the streets and villages, taking in the views across the rolling hills, and fully enjoying those shared moments around the same table.

At La Casa del Prosciutto, on our terrace, it’s easy to be fully conquered by this unique atmosphere made of air, heartfelt traditions, and traditional flavors that speak directly to the heart.

A microclimate that becomes flavor

As many of you already know, San Daniele air is not just a poetic image or a backdrop to the story, it is one of the key ingredients. Our air is an integral part of the region’s most iconic product. Prosciutto di San Daniele’s uniqueness is due in large part to the town’s extraordinary microclimate, making it “one of a kind”.

We are located in a privileged geographical position, atop a hill 250 meters above sea level, where different natural elements come together in perfect harmony. Cool winds descend from the Friulian Alps, while a gentle breeze rises from the Adriatic Sea. Adding to this balance is the Tagliamento River, which at the foot of the hill helps regulate the air’s humidity. From this meeting of elements come the ideal conditions for the prosciutto’s curing process.

120 years of Prosciutto San Daniele Alberti

For 120 years, our prosciutto Factory has been located right here, in the heart of the historic center, at the top of the hill. We have chosen not to move to the industrial area, because staying means remaining faithful to our roots and to a place we consider irreplaceable.

Today, we are the only prosciutto producers still based in the town’s historic center, and it is right here that our hams breathe this precious air every day, throughout the entire aging process.

Directly connected to the factory are our historic tavern, in italian “osteria”, and our outdoor terrace, which, with the arrival of the warmer season, opens its doors to welcome you and let you experience this world up close.

The magic of spring on the terrace of La Casa del Prosciutto

With the arrival of spring, this space transforms into something truly special. Sitting here means taking a genuine break from the pace of everyday life, immersed in an atmosphere that brings together scenery, wellbeing, and flavor.

It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy our products at your own pace, and breathe in the renowned San Daniele air.
Moreover, in spring, everything takes on an even more distinctive charm, as the season itself brings a sense of lightness and wellbeing.

Savoring Prosciutto Alberti on our terrace means experiencing the product in its most natural and authentic setting: it’s not just about eating well, but about discovering the territory through all five senses.
